My 1988 Mustang 5.0 has a double ground wire that runs into a single eyelet and is mounted on the fender next to the battery. It connects to the negative battery post. Lately that wire gets very hot and it sometimes smokes, its never done that before. What can be causing that to happen? Please help

You need to make sure there is a good clean rust free contact between the eyelet and body, and make sure the other end is making good clean and tight contact. That should solve your problem.

Its all clean, I'm gonna replace the burnt wire with a fresh piece and I'll let you know the outcome afterwards. Thanks

You should check your main ground Wire on both ends. Sounds like your electrical system might be relying on the one single ground loop.A bad connection will heat up like that too though.

I unscrewed the eyelet from the fender cleaned behind both with a sanding bit, spliced in a fresh piece of wire and secured it with heat shrink splices. Its working fine at the moment.
