These people put out a good magazine, but this forum is lame. Topics and technical questions are posted here and then they are left to rot. No answers. No replies. No nothing. Blech!
My guess is that even the magazine people don't visit this wasteland. Not that I blame them, but some interaction from the so called experts would probably do alot to enhance this forum and maybe even grow it....so that it becomes a useful tool for all the users.

I love the Magazine, but this forum is not cool.

Thanks for the compliments on the magazine guys, but while the magazine is 25 years old, the forum is brand new and it is going to take some time to build it up with users. We can't simply import 10,000 users from another forum.
While the forum is owned by Primedia and Mustang & Fords, like most forums you visit this forum is setup for "users helping users". We don't have the time to scan the forum every day and research and answer every question. I'm sorry but that's the cold truth.
We can either work all day on the magazine or we can work all day on the forums, but we can't do both.
I would love for us to have picture support, weekly guest speakers for "chat room" visits, and more. But our Web content editor also handles four other web sites full time. We are all spread a bit thin.
I have answered a few user's questions in the past, but Nov. and Dec. are very busy months with trade shows, holidays, and I took two weeks off for vacation to work on the Cobra project too, which is why I haven't been on here lately.
Please have some patience and I promise to stop in more.
Thanks...

Hi Mark,
Good to see that you dropped in. Please don't take my comments as criticsm (sic) of you or the magazine solely. I know that there are alot of talented and knowledgable people that visit this site, as well as people without a clue and are visiting this site in search of answers from other Ford people. That is why everyone needs to get involved & participate.
I have been a car guy all of my life and I am 45 years old. The coolest thing about being a car nut is the people. People that share their expertise and passion about cars, impart knowledge to others, help when and where they can and give of their time.
I am relatively new to the Ford world. I have always preferred GM muscle cars but I wanted something different and something I do not see very often, which is why I purchased a '68 Mercury Cougar XR-7. It needs some help. I have projects in mind for it, and I am excited to get to it....once the weather warms up. I live in Maine and have no garage.
Anyway, I hope to hear from you again....I usually cruise by at least once daily, but my new issue of Mustangs and Fords just arrived, so I have to check THAT out!
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the kind words Steve, and best of luck with your cool Cat (though I guess it's really cool right now with no garage!) Ha!

Most mag forums are like this. The bulk of Ford tech talk is concentrated elsewhere. Formus and lists like fordmuscle.com, 460ford.com, 351cleveland.com do well because they are focused pretty specifically on a subject. Most of the existing sites have been online for a long while, so they have their communities built. Maybe in time - it will just take people taking time to come over here and post. M&F does seem to provide fodder for discussion both good and bad (like the mustang-centric 2007 calendar), people just need to fell like carrying on about it.

As the web producer for this and 4 other sites, I want this site to be THE site to go to. We're a long way off from that. But we know the new forums are easier to use than the old ones.
We are going to add the ability to add pictures and text formatting. I, for one, can't wait for the pictures. I want to see what people have and are driving. With 55+ sites for Primedia, it'll take a while though to get the changes made.
Don't hesitate to let us know what you think. Good or bad.

My wife and I handle a few web sites and do the site for the local track - http://abilenedragstrip.com (shameless plug for the site). Most folks don't grasp the amount of work required to maintain sites like this - I don't envy you at all LOL. The forums can work - just got to get on people's "radar". I bookmarked it so I'd remember to come here more often. Chat it up in the magazine some might help. Maybe post some upcoming project or article outlines and solicit comments. It's hard to point people to the web on specific things with the publishing horizons being what they are (just got the MARCH addition of Pop Rod). By the time the mag shows up in my mailbox (always days after I see it in Walmart) we could have been talking about it here for a month or better.

Shop pic - looks like this works the same as most other forums like phpBB and such. Network54 doesn't require the IMG tags. Would be nice to be able to edit a post.

I am back. My old computer crapped out, so I lost whatever was saved and am now making my way back to the sites that I used to frequent.
