Howdy, I bought a 62 T-bird and someone put a 410 Mercury engine in it. It has Mercury valve covers on it and the cylinder head codes are C4AE & (0609 OR 6090. Any idea what these codes identify the heads as? Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a little info on the codes, may not help much but here is what I have. The C4AE,C4 designates a 1964 casting and the A designates full bodied cars.Do not know what the 0609 or 6090 would be.There should be another casting code that designates the actually date of casting. They would include a letter designating the month, letters A through M were used to denote which month omitting the letter I to avoid confusion with the number 1.Then the actual day of the month. For example say the other code was 4K19. The 4 ties in with the 4 in the C4AE which designates 1964,the K would designate the month of October and the 19 would be the 19th day of the month.

CONGRATS ON YOUR 390 STROKER. THE 410 WAS PRODUCED FOR 2 YEARS. YOUR HEADS ARE MOST LIKELY 352-390 STANDERED HEAD. THE ONLY OTHER OPTION, WITH YOUR GIVEN DATA, WOULD BE 427 HIGHRISER. PROBLEM IS THAT THE 2.19 VALVES WOULD SLAM INTO YOUR CYLINDERS. THE GOOD HEAD(ORIGINAL) WOULD HAVE c2Se FOR THE 6V T-BIRD WITH SMALL COMBUSTION CHAMBERS 65-68 CC. OR THE c4Se. the info is from HP BOOKS: HOW TO REBUILD BIG BLOCK FORD ENGINES. FOR FE,FT,FORD-MERC-CARS-TRUCKS.
