i have some long tube headers on my 302, They were alredy installed when i bought the car. i recently took them off to give them a fresh coat of vht paint.i was wondering if i would gain anything if i portmatched the headders?

If you mean port the head exhaust ports to match the hedders, you should get some improvement. Not a lot if that's all that's changed. But to do a proper job of it, the heads need to come off the engine. If you mean grinding on the tubes - good luck with that. There's nothing much to grind on. you might make some minor improvements on air flow, but you really can't change the port shape without a bunch of welding or modifying the tubes. Most 1 5/8" tube headders will be fine for a normal 302 head.
