I am in a pinch and need some info. I have mustang in the shop, basket case. The vehicle was dropped off with no spindles rotors calipers, etc. The customer brought some spindles he bought off ebay, got calipers and rotors and pads from The Zone. The spindles seem to be too short for the rotors. He is under the assumption that the spindles are for a BOSS mustang. What would the differences be in this area, and does anyone have any of these parts. I need to have this ready for this guy when he gets back from Iraq which is expected to be in april. Jonny,

I am rebuilding a 68 and looked at refitting the drum brakes with rotors.  It is not real complicated,  but I have found that the spindles/rotors/calipers all have to somewhat match.  I think that until you know exactly what you got, its going to be difficult to match this up.  I do know that the spindle/caliper assembly from a Granada bolts right up to the mustang,  which is probably his best bet if he is looking for an inexpensive front brake refit

Quick answer - return the Zone parts, purchase a kit from one of the name vendors like SSB or Master Power.  Or put together a "Granada" conversion.  Tell the customer if the spindles are real Boss, sell them to a Boss collector or restorer.  Cheaper and easier to find parts for the later model stuff than a Boss.  You can also buy the "granada" type spindles new.  From glancing at the autozone web site, Granada parts will cost about 1/2 the stock disk parts.

Or pay big bucks for the Boss parts - Boss Rotor
Bet he didn't get that at the Zone.

Thnx for the suggestions. I am trying to find out if the spindles, calipers and mounts off of a 78 cougar will fit this. I have one in the back-yard, so if these will work we'll be all set,      THNX JohnnyBoy

Don't know about the Cougar parts - the usual donors are Granada/Monarch 75-80, Comet/Maverick 74-77.  It's the ball joint taper that makes the swap work.

Isnt' the '78 Cougar the "square body" model? If so, that's based on the Fairmont/Fox body platform and uses a modified mac strut front end and will not work at all without major fabrication, which at that point you should just go to something like the base RRS coil over or the Fat Man Fab SN-95 strut kit...
