Just read Part 3 of the Inline Is Real Fine tech piece in the Dec. '07 issue where there is a photo caption of a T5 that states "You can order a new Tremec T5 for around a grand.." etc. I must be looking in the wrong places cause I haven't found one new for less than $1,400.00. My '69-302/3spd. Coupe is crying out for a 5 speed conversion and a grand is within my budget. Would you be so kind as to reveal the whereabouts of the 'T5 for a grand'? Thanks

BP, much of the price depends upon first gear ratio, overdrive ratio, etc.
D & D Performance, one of the largest Tremec dealers in the world sells the Worl Class T-5 w/ 3.35 first gear and .68 OD for $999. The more popular '93 Cobra T-5 with tapered input bearing, steel bearing retainer, and the same gear ratios of the WC box is but $1,099...
It's when you get to the 2.95 first gear box ($1,395) and the heavy duty TKO models that the price goes up.

The operative word in the article is "new". There is no such thing as a "new" T-5 WC transmission for $1000 - they are "rebuilds". Got this info directly from the D&D website. I'll pop for the "new" box since I'm going to throw some power at it. Thanks
