Hey Guys
My wife and I went to the Ford dealer here in Las Vegas (where we live) and place an order for the: HIGHLAD GREEN BULLITT FORD MUSTANG (WOW)
I gave the deal a $5,000.00 check for the order. He said I was the third person on the list for the deliver of the BULLITT.
He couldn't give me a final price. However, in the agreement we have a ' Give Back our deposit if the price is to high. The car should range around 31 or 32K. However, there's the rotten kick-up price added onto the vehicle. Like it might come as high as; $20,000.00 MORE !! !
Making the final price around 52K. As much as I want the car. I got to see what the final price is going to be ? ? ?
Have any on you guys order the BULLITT yet? If so, can you please share what your experiences were.
The BULLITT is suppose to hit the streets in the begining of Jan. '08
Thanks guys
Ray

Hi, I did have a similar experience in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I went to a local dealership to pre-order the Bullitt. After leaveing a thousand dollar deposit the sales person couldn't give me an exact price for the vehicle. He stated that it should be between 40-45 thousand. He also stated that the price could go up if multiple persons were interested in the vehicle. I was told that the deposit only ensured me "first right of refusal" on the price he would come back to me with. I left feeling pretty sure I wouldn't be able to afford the car! After waiting almost a week to hear back from this idiot, I proceded to call another dealership. The other dealership confirmed that I could purchase the vehicle, and that he would get me a quote. In about an hour I got a call back stating that the vehicle with Ford discounts would be 39 thousand and change. I didn't go for the bigger stereo and hid headlamps aren't available in Canada. I went to the dealership the next day and purchased the vehicle. The expected delivery is end of January or beginning of february. My advice to you would be to phone around until you find a more reputable dealership! Sounds like the one you went to is just as bad as the first dealership I visited! Good luck! P.S. Also got them to throw in a set of deluxe rubber pony mats!!!!

Hello guys,
I placed my Highland Green Bullitt order on Monday this week with my local dealer here in California, no deposit required thank you very much. I purchased three new vehicles from this dealer in the past ten years, and this is a realtively small town so they know me very well. I specified the following options:
HID Headlamps Active Anti-Theft System Wheel Locking Kit Ambient Lighting
I did not want the ugly black bump on the deck lid, so no SIRIUS Satellite radio for me. The only other two options I passed on were the Shaker 1000 Stereo and the Navagation System. The Shaker 500 in my wife's 2007 V6 Coupe sounds just fine without loosing truck space, and $1,995 for GPS is crazy IMHO!
They have not quoted me a price yet, but I do not expect to pay more than the MSRP, though after reading your posts and others on the internet I could be in for a rude awaking?! All I can say is this dealer will loose a good customer if they try that crap on me...
BTW, my dealer is only allowed to order three Bullitts total, and I am the only one in line for one at this time. They told me mine would be ready around February or March. They already had one on order in Black and it is expected to arrive in January. When I placed my order for a Highland Green, they went ahead and place their third and final order for one in Highland Green, and expect it sometime in April or May. I'll keep you posted on the price, but I have to tell you if they quote me higher than $32,500 I'll pass and wait for the 2009 Camaro...
Be well~ Anthony

For that money, I'd rather have a 2008 Challenger. I can build a 68 "Bullitt" for a whale of a lot less than that if I wanted one.

I also like the new Challenger, but you can count on spending at least $42,000 for a 6.1 Hemi model, most likely much more...
As I said in my first post, I will not pay more than MSRP for any car and usally much less, I do not care what it is, and if everybody did that the dealers would get a long deserved wake-up call!
I beleive the most bang for the buck if you are intent on buying new will be the Camaro, they are going to build 1,000's of them. Or, get some vintage iron and build your own, always very cool and satisfing.
Be well~

Hello again everybody,
Good news! My local California dealer locked me today at $32,270.00. This price includes the following order confirmation details: GT Coupe Premium - $27,020.00 Highland Green Bullitt Package - $3,310.00 HID Headlamps - $525.00 Locking Wheel Kit - $50.00 Active Anti-Theft - $325.00 Ambi Lighting - $295.00 Dest & Delivery - $745.00 -------------------------------- Grand Total = $32,270.00
Yes it is full MSRP, but considering it is a limited production car that is not too bad. They did not request a deposit, but I felt better giving them $500.00 to firmly lock it in. Delivery is expected around March.
No buyers as of today on their other two orders; another in Highland Green and one in Black. The Black Bullitt is expected in January, the other Green one after mine sometime around May, about two months between deliveries.
Be well~ Anthony

I work for a dealership in Winder, GA, and we're doing pre-orders for full MSRP, no mark up.
We also sell Dodges, and to answer your question, the Challenger's average pre order price is $20,000 over sticker out of the 6800 pre-sales so far nation wide, so you're looking at about $62,000+++ for one. Crazy, I know, but people are paying it.
If anyone wants more info on either car, you can email me at adantzer@akinsofathens.com or call me @ 678-227-9015

Fear not. The dealer/consumer madness over the Bullitt Mustang may fizzle just like it did for the HD VROD. Dealers were demanding and in some cases were getting $5000 over invoice for a $17,000 bike. Late comers were put on 3 year waiting lists due to limited dealer inventory. Back then, just like now, the economy got dicey. Before you knew it, those at the bottom of the list were being called immediately to buy the bikes at MSRP. Dealers were still calling almost a year later to see if you still wanted to purchase it.

There’s a small dealership in a little town about 25 miles away from me that advertises those “$99 over invoice” deals. In 2003, I bought a new Mach 1 from them for about $27.5K when all the other local dealerships wanted $5K over MSRP (around $35K then).
Last year they had a drawing for a ’07 Shelby GT at “$99 over invoice” and one of my Mustang club members was selected and got it for about $35K.
Recently another club member purchased an ’08 Bullitt for “$99 over” and paid a little over $30K so there are dealers out there willing to work with you if you can find them.

It seems that every time a new performance vehicle is released, there are people jumping on the bandwagon. I remember when the 03 Cobra was released back in 2002. People were getting into bidding wars to just to be the first to have one on the street. In my part of the world, dealers were charging as much over sticker as they could, it was the same situation when the 2005 Mustang GT came out (there weren't that many for sale in my area, so dealers were charging a premium, but there were people out there willing to pay the money. Then it was the same with the Shelby GT500 and more recently with the Bullitt.
There are some dealers who don't seem to subscribe to the greed theory, like Anthony's and I take their hat off to them, but there are a lot more who do.
My philosophy when buying a 'new' car these days, is to beat these greedy dealers at their own game - wait until the initial hoopla for a specific vehicle has died off. Even with cars like the Bullitt, it can often work out better getting a demo or slightly used one and you can save a ton. As with the Challenger deal, it seems like a nice car, but a lot of those who paid $20,000 over sticker for the 2008 1/2 models will probably kick themselves when the ’09s come out with a manual transmission and limited slip diff.
I just look at the going rates for good 03-04 Cobras today and compare that to the madness back in 2002.
