I need some info on interior color. I'm changing the interior color of my 66 hardtop from black to parchment ( I'm in South Fla. w/no AC yet) and assumed the package tray would also be painted parchment until I saw an original 64 1/2 with a white interior and a black tray. Does anyone know for sure if the tray should be black or match the interior color? The replacement fiberboard tray I bought from NPD is twice the thickness of the original and is very fuzzy. thanks for any help, KG

Can't help you much with the color, but you could go to a home store and get a piece of thin Masonite, then use the NPD part for a pattern to cut a panel. On the home made one, you can make it any color you like. Walmart carries some inexpensive car interior "fuzzy" carpet that's not overly furry and it comes in black. Use some 3M Hi-Tack 76 spray to mount the material and you've got an inexpensive test panel that is easily modified. The Florida sun is going to eat on it anyway, might as well have something that can be freshened on the cheap. Try the black and see if you like it. If not, peal it off and find a fabric you like and stick it on there.

The package tray is usually the color of the interior, but on light interiors like Parchment I would easily suspect Ford to use a darker dash pad and package tray to reduce glare. Not sure about '66 off the top of my head, but I know '67s with Parchment got black carpet. It all depends upon if you are trying to go completely stock or go "restomod" with it. I would paint the package tray to match the upholstery and headliner myself...
TMI also has covered trays now that use the same vinyl as the headliner for a nice look and come with or without 6x9 speaker holes...
