Well I solved the timing gear installation problem I was having, thankyou to all who helped. NEW PROBLEM the cam dowel pin only seems to come flush with the timing gear.Should this not extend through the gear to align the cam ecentric ring for the fuel pump ? Can these pins be replaced ? and if so what would be the procedure to remove it. Again thank you in advance to any and all that can advise me on what to do.

Is this a new cam installation? If so, they usually have different length dowels in the box with the cam. If not, you can usually call Crane or Comp and order a longer pin. They are a interference fit and will take a little effort to pull out of the cam...

Thanks for your help Mark. I did get the pin to come through the gear after I set the gear back far enough, DaaaaH . The pin however does not go all th way through the eccentric , is a liitle enough or should it come all the way through. I'm about to ditch the double roller timing set and go back to the single.
thanks

The pin should have enough length to solidly engage the fuel pump eccentric (at least flush with it). It it only "catches" it, then there's a change the eccentric could slip off the pin. Switching to a longer pin will fix it, or you can go back to the stock chain and gear setup, which of course is thinner. Is this a two-piece eccentric or single?

The eccentric is a single , I am already using the longer pin from the edelbrock cam. What if I move the pin out of the cam a bit ?
