i want to replace my standard antenna with an electric one.  How do you access the quarter panel area for installation of the new antenna.

I assume you are referring to the front fender when you say "quarter panel"...

If you turn the front wheels (or better yet, remove the RF wheel for work room) you will see a splash panel bolted to the edge of the firewall/cowl panel area. Remove the small tapping screws (I think they are 3/8-inch heads) there, and one in the engine compartment at the back by the hood hinge, and remove the splash panel. Then you can access the side of the cowl where the antenna cable and wiring will pass through...
