I just read the boss efi article, pretty cool but wheres the BSFC nunbers? Wheres the driving impressions? How did the engine idle compared to a carb? What was the MPG's compared to a carb? was it tuned on the dyno with a laptop or was the self tuning feature used for the test?
I've been a subscriber since day one and I let it lapse almost a year ago. WHY? vague articles with no detail, I'm sure all the info came from autoworks/retrotek.
You could sell more mags if you were more in depth in your articles.........

Vert67...
Wayne Cook, our technical editor who wrote that story, WAS on site for the complete swap, dyno testing, and photography. The only thing Autoworks did was provide the vehicle and the space to work on it. Same with Retrotek; they simply sent us the product to evaluate and were not on site during any of the work.
I did ask Wayne for mpg numbers, but the car used for the installation is, for the lack of a better description, a shop mule, and does not see daily driving. We were hoping to get some feedback from the shop before deadline but unfortunately we did not. So, it came down to do we leave the mpg of carb vs. EFI out of the story, or do we pull the whole story (almost impossible to do with deadlines we have).
My apologies if you were dissapointed in the story, but we have a limited number of pages to divvy up between tech, features, departments, etc. and an even more limited budget (which is why we can't travel to many events or visit the companies we'd like to).
If it helps you understand any better, we want the same things you do, but our hands are tied financially by the higher ups. They want to show a profit and that means small budgets and staying within them.
Thanks for voicing your comments, we do want our readers to be happy and enjoy the magazine and we've been pounding the desk for more money and more pages. Hopefully we'll all get what we want in the future...
