Around where I live gas has gone from around $2.75 to in little over a year $4.00 a gallon. I haven't had to really change my driving habits yet but I'm starting to think about it - we're definitely being gouged. My daily driver Ford pickup has 3.73 gears, so it eats fuel,  plus I'm thinking of putting a six-speed in my latest Mustang project - hopefully it should help for cruising. I keep watching gasbuddy for the cheapest stations in my area, some people are saying that gas could go as high as $5.50 gallon in four years time. Has anybody had to change their driving habits yet because of fuel?

I only drive my fairlane about twice a month now. But, it is still cool to know the rice burner drivers wish they were in my fairlane instead.

Definitely,

1966-67 Fairlanes are great cars.I just don't understand how some of these kids can think that trying to soup up a worn out Honda Accord or Nissan Maxima is cool - it isn't it - it's sad, there are so many other cars out there for cheap that you can do stuff with and that can be made into cool rides.

I drove my 'lane to work today and had people yelling out car windows at me. Every now and then i have other cars show out around me, but the ricers don't even fool with it...They know I know.

For Earth Day, I planted a pecan tree in the front yard and a Chinese Pistache in the back.  Then I took the fuel jugs and the Super Crew down to the gas station and bought $90  worth of fossil fuel.

We drive nothing but trucks around here, with the Ranger V6 getting the most use.  With the air on, it gets about 1-2 MPG better than the F150 5.4L.  We have a lead on a Jeep that we're checking out.  It's like a convertible with a roll bar.  Fun and sorta practical.  The race cars run premium pump gas, but that is only about .50 short of methanol right now so there is some incentive to switch over.  You can buy methanol by the drum and get a decent discount.  Both cars get about 3 passes to the gallon, so it's not too bad.

There is a race in Midland this weekend that pays good money to win.  The haul out and back will run $105 for fuel.  $75 entry plus a $16 crew entry and you are at $200 and you haven't eaten yet.  So we're not sure if we are going or not.  There's a lot of stuff I could do around the house.  I could send that 750 DP to Quick Fuel and get it reworked for $150.  We're having to make choices we shouldn't have to make, IMHO.

On a more serious note, I harldy ever drive my 97 F-250 HD,4X4,460 anymore. It gets around 10-11mpg. It used to get 15....150,000miles ago. I only use it to haul wood and scrap metal. My 'lane runs a mix of premium unleaded and race fuel, and it gets yardage instead of mileage. Now I drive my Taurus to work. It could be worse. I work in EMS and our fuel bill is $2,000 a week, and we do not pay pump price.(12 vehicles)
