I have had some overheating problems and wanted to install an aluminum radiator. If the radiator catches a stone and springs a leak, is it repairable? 65wagoneerbd

Should be - about the only radiators that can't be repaired are the OEM type with plastic tanks. However, just about every modern car for the last so long already has an aluminum radiator and I haven't had anyone say anything lately about a radiator leak. You are more likely to cause damage to the radiator by lack of maintenance and possible electrolysis damage.

I have an aluminum radiator in my 68 mustang. After changing everything else, water pump, 3 row brass, electic fan ect.. this is the one item that really made a difference. The best part is you don't have to spend a fortune on one that is made for your mustang. I put a generic race radiator 26X19 1" row alum. radiator in mine. The temp never goes over 190 in the middle of the summer, even on 90 plus days. I have a stock 302 water pump, electric fan (puller) and this radiator. The 302 is built, but not crazy, about 300HP. If you look on ebay under FORD RACE, several pop up. the only drawback is, there is no drain plug. But, you can buy one for $160!!! Why spend $500, just pull off the bottom radiator hose if you need to change the fluid. I just fabricated some "u shaped brackets on the bottom with rubber inserts to pad the bottom and used a stock 68 mustang radiator (with A/C) upper bracket. Drilled two new holes in the upper radiator support and bolted the upper bracket on. Email me for pics if you like, John_taton@yahoo.com. Actually, I have an extra one that I had in my Falcon, that I had to change over to a triple pass version, because it wouldn't cool my 427 good enough. But this radiator is great for any 289, 302 mildly built.
good luck, john

This is what cools the Falcon's nearly 500 HP 351C
![]() It's a 31 x 19 dual 1" core aluminum radiator from Summit ($189) and a set of fans from an LT1 Camaro (free from a GM type friend). It works well enough that the Flow Kooler water pump is driven by a Moroso electric motor kit. The only problem with the setup is when I forget to turn the pump motor and/or fans off and start chatting people up. It gets the motor ice cold in no time flat.

I would love to have that fan setup. Is there one a little bit smaller 26X19??? Right now I have a single pusher. No room for a puller because of the procharger.

Haven't found one - need one for the Mustang. I will probably end up fabbing a shroud out of the .040 aluminum I have laying around and mounting two 10" fans on it.
