Most of the time it's blue, occasional rain showers and thunderstorms but most definitely blue

I'm jumping in with my two cents regarding this whole thing. Yes I know, it's tough when things change, but unfortunately that is part of life. I remember reading Mustang & Fords back in high school when it had both vintage and late-model Mustang and Ford content - does anybody remember that comparison between the black Mach 1 and then new 1993 Cobra, or the July cover in 1994 with a 1967 and 1992 Mustangs on it. The car magazine business changes often, but I think some of you are forgetting the point. Yes, you can lambast us with all kinds of stuff about how dissapointed you are, that incorporating late model stuff is garbage etc, but really, if you think about it, Modified Mustangs & Fords has largely gone back to what Mustang & Fords was in the beginning, while adding a 'modified' twist. It's only in the last decade that M&F focused exclusively on older Fords (pre '78). Most of us Mustang and Ford enthusiasts have got a lot on our plates right now, what with the price of gas, the housing and credit crunch and a sagging economy - don't know about you, but I enjoy reading about, working on and driving my Mustangs and Fords - it's the one of the few things that continues to make sense in sometimes crazy and baffling world and I would not trade it for anything. I also subscribe to other magazines - some of them have changed their content, and while I'm not always partial to some of the decisions made, I have found that by giving things a chance, you actually get some benefits down the road.
Collectively we all need to band together in this hobby in order to keep it vibrant and strong, Mustangs and Fords are our life and although we don't all share the same interests for specific types and years of Mustang or Ford vehicles, we all bleed Ford blue.
There are some that will go off and sulk because not every page of the new mag is devoted to 1966 Mustangs with C-Code 289s and C4s, hey, it's a free country. But doing stuff like that is a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face, you will only hurt yourself in the end.
We have a new magazine in the marketplace and an opportunity. Let's be thankful and let's make it work. Whiners need not apply.

Mark,
I was surprised by the new magazine at first. I own a 65 mustang coupe that i am trying to restore. I know I am going to take some heat from you guys on this blog but I like the magazine because I am a ford fan and liked the articles on the old and new stuff. I didnt really care for the bimbo article much or her spread though and there seemed to be way more advertisements than before also. If you would drop the bimbo and maybe add more readers cars in there, I would rather see those when I am looking at a car magazine. I do agree with you on the guys in the newer mustang though, but to me it is the younger ones that "daddy" paid for the car that could care less if you acknowledge them or not even at car shows. Oh well, to each their own.

I think the new format is great. I like seeing what's going on in both worlds, however separate people want them, at the same time.

I think Huw said it all right there. I have met Huw multiple times, and had the privilege of meeting Mark in Carlisle for the first time this year. both of these guys love fords, and their mag, and with enough time im sure great things are going to come from it. Im a late model guy, but i respect the history of the mustang and all of the other fords. this may not be what you guys subscribed to but its still mustangs and fords. some of you sound like a bunch of vette owners with all of your i want nothing to do with the rest of you crap.

Man, I've been wondering what happened to my favorite magazine.....quite a disappointment. I'm a Ford guy true and true, but if I was interested in new Mustangs I'd buy those magazines, (which I did 20 years ago when I bought my last new Mustang) I guess I'll just go back out to my garage and crawl under my Maverick... Boy I miss the Super Ford days...

Fox body guy here. I suscribed to your magazine because of your excelent coverage of fox cars, while at the same time dropping my supscription of 5.0 magazine(might as well rename it to 05 mustangs). I too was very disappointed to see the format change. As are others on the forum I predominantly visit. link to stangnet discussing the format change I understand the logic behind the change, however it is a disappointment. If it is thought that there just isn't enough interest in fox cars, try checking out stangnet and seeing which forum has the most posts by far. Before passing judgement, I'll give it a few months to see if your coverage goes to where I'm no longer interested. While I like both the older and newer stangs, I'm more inclined to spend my money on the one that I have and things that cover it. Thanks for your time, Rob B.

Enough interest has little to do with it really Rob. If you looked at both magazines pre-merger they both ran car features on cars that had more of a passionate following than mainstream.
Now someone will take this the wrong way, but I'm still going to say it: Anyone with an S197 Mustang and a checkbook can build a nice car, and I'm sure they'll enjoy it. But it usually takes a lot more effort to build a classic Ford, a Fox Mustang, or even a late-model non-Mustang. Huw owns two Fox Mustangs, and I have one as well. Fox Mustangs are not going to leave the new book. You'll still see four-eyes, aero cars, SVOs, and even Fox derivatives like T-Bird, Mark VII, and Capri.
We have a '91 hatch in August (goes on sale tomorrow) and an '88 T-Bird in Oct. We have an '84 SVO coming soon as well, plus a 89 hatch too. Plenty of Fox stuff...
I think you'll be happy with the Fox coverage Rob, just give it a few issues...

I too am not overly pleased with the turn that Modified has taken. I just reupped for a three year subscription and, I have to say, if I had known about this change I probably would have let my subscription expire. All this "unity among Stangers" talk is fine and dandy, but when it comes down to what I'm going to pay my $5.95 a copy for, it is going to be for something that I am interested in. I own late model Mustangs (highly modded 93 LX, 93 Saleen #0016 and a Kenne Bell'd 96 Cobra), that is the kind of car I'm interested in and that is the kind of magazine I subscribed to. I respect cool Fords of all kinds, but late model modified Mustangs are my bread and butter and that's what brought me to your magazine. I'm sure the classic guys feel the same way about the late models. I have let my 10-year subscriptions to MM&FF and 5.0 lapse over the last year because, as someone else mentioned, they seem to have forgotten anything built before 2005. I'm not going to jump on the "cancel my subscription" bandwagon, but I am definitely unhappy about the direction that the publication has taken.
Oh, by the way, lose the bimbo. Totally unnecessary.
