Anyone know of a kit ( bell housing, switch Mount etc)needed to convert a 289A code from a C4 to an AOD? What year AOD is best? Why?

Never seen a kit - a 5.0 AOD will bolt up to a 67 289 - it's the same bell bolt pattern. You'll need a 164 tooth flexplate with a 28 in/oz balance factor (Mustangs Plus #11559) and a block plate for a large bell trans.
Some info for you: AOD to 67 That's an older post - Windsor/Fox isn't around anymore. Check Mustang's Plus #10044 for a trans mount. you can also search with AOD on their site to come up with other parts. Another AOD swap

I bought a kit for performing this swap from Dallas Mustang, it had everything I needed except for the transmission and driveshaft. The swap took the better part of a day and is maybe the best modification I have made to my 65 fastback. The transmission I used was from an 83 Grand Marquis I believe- it made a totally different car out of my ride, gone are the high rpms at highway speed and the vibration and noise. My gas mileage is noticeably better and it resolved an overheating problem I was experiencing on the highway.
