How come the last person to post (or is it the last person to log in?) on this forum is always greeted as the site's newest member at the bottom of the page in the forum statistics of the forum index?
Seems to be a problem there. I joined 11/11/2006. I should hope I am NOT the site's newest member!!

Oh, and how many posts or years do you need to be on this site before you are not considered a "new" user? Like under my name in the post above!

Ship...
It's a proprietary forum software and there are a lot of bugs that will not be fixxed for a while. Trust me, I know, and have complained about them all. My biggest pet peeve is the "remember me" not remembering. Every forum I belong to I have it set like that so I can just click and post. Who wants to remember log ins and passwords for a simple forum? This isn't my bank's site!
As for the "new" setting I'll have to look into that. I have several hundred posts on the Vintage-Mustang.com forum and I'm still listed as new user as well. It might be a "posts per day" average or something...
BTW, I didn't have time to register, but feel free to post on the Cougar forum that Source Interlink IS Primedia (They bought Primedia a year ago). So Muscle Car Review is technically still owned by the same company. They killed it and then brought it back on a short term basis and it is popular again (though it is not all-Ford)...
Just wanted that clarified in the thread about our merger. I know there will be a lot of classic guys upset, but it is what it is and I'll do my best to keep the classic content in there (and Cougars when I can!) :P
Thanks... Mark

Where is this Cougar forum? Muscle Car Review? I used to buy Muscle Car Review all of the time, way back when!
How is your son's project car going?
Thanks,
Steve

This one here on the Mercury Cougar forum...
Mercury Cougar Forum Thread
I think it was the next page where someone mentioned MCR...
I recognized your screen name, that's the only reason I mentioned it...
Thanks for asking about the '68. I'm still waiting on sheetmetal to get started. It's stripped to a rolling chassis right now. All interior, wiring, etc. is out of it...
We're about wrapped up on the Cobra replica. Got it aligned last week and the last of the safety equipment in it, so we can get on my son's '68 full bore as soon as the metal shows up...
Take care, and please let me know what you think of the new book when you get a chance to look at it. Being a Cougar guy I would think you would appreciate seeing a late-model Cougar feature as well, something we can now do with the merged title. How about a MN-12 based Cougar XR-7 with some mods, or a story on the 20th Anniversary Cougar (remember those with the burgundy paint and gold Mustang turbine wheels?)...

Hi Mark,
I didn't realize you were talking about mercurycougar.net. I love that site! Lot's of good technical data, commenst, give and take, selling and buying, and just a good place for the Cougar nut.
This forum is picking up as well. I have gotten some good data and help from some of the members with my carb and manifold swap on my 351-C. I always expect everything to proceed straight forward with no hiccups, life is not that way.....and neither is modifying cars. I do like how you have been pretty active on this site, despite the beatings that you are currently enduring!
Your son is lucky to be involved with his father on a car project. That is something he will always remember.
The new magazine. Hmmmmm. Well. To be truthful, I do not like it as much as I liked the old rendition. Mustangs and Fords was a good magazine. At one time I had a subscription to M&FF. I could not stand that one and I cancelled. Mustangs and Fords and Mustang Monthly were the one's that I liked to read. The reason being was not always the cars (Mustangs & Camaros and 'vettes) are probably the most over publicized magazines in the world. I liked the era and the style of these cars. The tech was relevant to me as was the content.
Your comment about being one big blue oval family sticks with me. Some people may be broadminded like that, but most that were subscribers to M&F are not going to be interested in Pinto's, Contours, Crown Vics, Focus', LTD's and Fox body Mustangs. It is like you are trying to cram all of Fords products from 1908 to the present, whether it be a luxury liner to an econobox: stock, modified, or reengineered into one magazine and forcefeeding it to a bunch of guys that were pretty much focused on 1964 to 1973 vehicles.
I don't like every Ford product ever made. Until several years ago I was a Pontiac man. Loved my Firebirds and my GTO. Even had several Fieros. Pontiac has lost it's identity and at some point will probably cease to exist.
Today's Mustangs are some of the coolest cars to roll out of Detroit in decades. But the period between 1973 and 2005 (in my opinion) are rather dismal for Ford.
So. I appreciate your work on our magazine. For me, the jury is still out on the magazine. I like the old stuff.......only. I like girls, bring them on! I do enjoy the ads. I get ideas from them.
Anyway. Thanks, Mark!

Ship, thanks for your honest commentary. I understand your point, and I hope I can prove you wrong... ![]()
I wish I could utilize the old Super Ford name, as it would probably be more of an accurate description for the magazine.
It takes time to build a forum up and I've been working on it, but I don't want the mag's quality to suffer just to have a nice web site. I wish I had a full time web guy to work on this site instead of sharing Greg with four other magazines (today's world of multi-hat-wearing corporate life)...
Some issues will have more classic than late-model (like August will) and as the magazine gels we could even rotate towards a higher mix of classic content. Time will tell, but I felt it best to start off "safe" with the 50/50 mix.
I'm off to Michigan for the NMRA race, hopefully I can check in over the weekend...
