Since I bought my beloved 2006 GT Convertible, I have always said, "if I were going to replace one thing, it would be the stereo system". Well, now I have my chance. I was driving the other day when the Shaker 500 shot craps. Do you have any suggestions for replacing the system? I'll start with the receiver and eventually replace the speakers and do some amplifier work, but right now, I just need to choose the receiver. I would actually like generally the same features as the Shaker... in dash CD changer specifically (need the trunk room that is already encumbered by the convertible... do not want a changer in the rear if I can help it). Plus I have to consider filling the big hole the Shaker leverages. I'm a former audiophile... "in the day" was a Crutchfield cover to cover reader, but haven't purchased quality audio equipment in 15 yrs. I have a long road trip planned for late July, so I need to move fairly quickly as I would rather not ride in silence (the rush of the open air, though awesome, won't keep me entertained for 13 hrs).
Many regards! Brian My profile

The stereo in your brand new (for all intents and purposes) Mustang crapped out? Wow!!! That's some quality!!!!
Isn't it covered by warranty? Something like that?

JVC's KW-XG700 CD receiver will fill your car's double-sized dash opening and your desire for big sound. The internal amp delivers your music loud and strong to your speakers, so you'll enjoy audio output that's a cut above most factory systems. JVC includes nine tone presets and three adjustable EQ bands so you can adjust for your car's acoustics and your listening taste.
You don't have to stop with good sound — the KW-XG700 will accommodate your system expansion needs. Built-in front-panel USB and auxiliary inputs make it easy to enjoy music files on a thumb drive or connect another audio source. You can use an optional iPod® adapter to expand your listening options, or add a Bluetooth® adapter for convenient hands-free cell phone use. Enjoy a wide range of music, sports, talk, and news by adding a satellite radio.

Thanks for the response. Saw that JVC on Crutchfield. I'll be checking it out in detail. I do have a JVC home receiver and it's been a trooper.
Note: I accidentally whacked my "initial" account... hence a seemingly (but not so) different replier. Thanks!!!
