I was very disapointed to see that one of the changes that was made to the new magazine was the change from family friendly content to not so. This is a car magazine, if we wanted scantily dressed women and pages of them including about their life (Mrs.Perez) we would order playboy. Save that space and devote every inch of it to cars! That is what we subscribed to in the first place. I wanted to pick up this magazine and concentrate on cars not get sidetracked by pics of women. Not only that but all my kids and wife enjoyed reading it but no more. I paid for 2 years because I was assured over the phone and email that it was family friendly like Mustang Monthly. Now it's been changed when I've already paid, lousy. Yes, we were notified of a change but who knew it also included this much of a change.

You will not be out any money if you wish to cancel. Just call customer service/subscription services found in the masthead of the magazine and they will refund you any unused amount of your sub dollars.
You can also click on "subscriber services" at the bottom of the web page for their web site, contact info, etc. to handle this.

The addition of "hot chicks" to pop circulation numbers is 100% of the time a death knell for a magazine. Never works and the quick fix mentality only leads to wasted resources and a faster decline as it drives away the dedicated subscriber.

I'm sure the girl thing is carried over from the 5.0 part. Grab a copy of MM&FF next time you're at the grocery store and thumb trough it. And maybe Hot Rod Bike, Hot Rod Delux, Car Craft, 5.0 Mustang (democratic - you can vote for the Babe of the Month), Lowrider, boating - you get the picture. So actually, the spread in MM&F is pretty tame. CC is "worse" and Lowrider is basically soft porn LOL. Check out their web - the front page has 9 chicks and 8 things about cars.

Yeah, and those mags don't make it off the shelf and into my cart either. If it don't pass the "wife test" or the "kids test", it ain't comming home.
It's hard enought to spend the extra $$ to fill the tank without getting jumped for buying high priced smutty magazines too. Ain't gonna happen.

My grandson brought it out of the "reading room" and said "Papa! This book has lots of Mustangs!". I think the first go-round is pretty mild, but it would be OK with me if that particular section of the mag vanished. Just about every rag has a new parts section, usually its all about parts an no chickie-babes.
FWIW - having much experience with "management knows best" we'd have to find the person with the right button - maybe marketing? OR probably better - call the advertisers for that section and complain like he**. I guarantee if Mark brings in a dump truck of complaints, he'll get blown off. "keyboard commandos" and all that. But if an advertiser calls and says customers are griping - now their wallet starts to tingle and they may listen.

Morning guys...
Just getting ready to head out to the Carlisle fairgrounds and see what's shakin. First, to answer a few questions. The After Hours parts review section was a staple of Modified Mustangs from issue #1 and was very popular with the late-model guys who read that book.
With the merger of the two books the section stayed. It is, to be blunt, a paid revenue part of the magazine, just like an ad. Calling the advertiser is a good idea if you wish to voice a complaint, but I honestly don't know if there's enough people complaining to make a difference/change. Sure, there's some upset guys here, and I've gotten about a dozen emails at work on the subject (it's either the late-model cars or the model, only two complaints), but I don't see that being enough to make a change to it or removing it.
I can understand the After Hours section touching a nerve but I'm a bit surprised about the late-model comments. I was hoping our M&F readers would be a bit more open to the whole Ford family, as I am.
I saw a really nice SVT Contour yesterday when I got to the Carlisle fairgrounds. Would you guys hang me for running a FWD in the magazine? Have you ever driven an SVT Contour. Way cool car. I love my early Mustangs, but man, there's so much more cool stuff out there to experience.
Anyway, I've got to get going.
I do hope you guys will give it a few issues and expand your horizons. Sure there's late-model sister mags, but they're all about 9-second drag cars. We're going to be focusing on street driven cars. Nice, early Fox GT Mustangs? I just got a photo from a guy the other day in Arizona with a two-door Fairmont. It was a really cool car too! I might put that in the magazine. They're all Fords, can't we get along as a big Blue Oval family? ![]()
Thanks guys...
Mark

Well, I got my last issue of Mustang & Fords Magazine today. The truly sad thing about the new magazine is that the articles are outstanding as usual and I even like the addition of the late model articles. Unfortunately, the magazine as "tame" as it may be compared to other magazines ceased to be family friendly. I don't appreciate the photos of scantily clad women in a magazine for guys who like to get grease under their fingernails especially since I have two teenage daughters who need to know they are respected for who they are and not their bust size and two young boys that need to learn this proper respect.
I feel as though I've experienced a mail order version of the bait and switch. My first subscription began in April of this year and I would never have subscribed if I had known this was going to happen.

To everyone who complain about the women in the magazine. Do you want some cheese with your "whine"? I mean you can simply cut those pages out if it bothers you so much.

Tlaird, The After Hours section is going to be a sticking point with many, I know. But as stated in another thread here it is based on revenue generation from the other magazine we merged with and unless the sponsor(s) of that section get copious amounts of complaint calls/emails, it will more than likely not be going anywhere. I know that's not what you want to hear, but I want to be 100% honest with my readers and not give any false expectations or promises.
Please know you can be refunded the remaining amount of your subscription if you are wishing to cancel.
Texas Venom, thanks for supporting us, but other readers do have their right to not be bombarded with After Hours.
I'm a red blooded American male and appreciate the female form myself, but I know our classic readers do not wish to see that type of content. I even commented on it in a recent reader's letter response a few issues ago about how we strive to not have such content (this was the old M&F), so how do you think I feel now getting bombarded with hate mail about After Hours?
Thanks for letting me explain guys...

lol, john bud you have to be kidding right? to say that women in car mags will cause them to die is the funniest thing I have heard all year. women have been in car mags almost since they day the car mag came out. many many mags have women in them and they continue to strive. look at 5.0, mm&ff, hot rod, popular hot rod, old mag with classic pin ups. I'll say it again, tell your wives to give your balls back, or do you not like steak and beer either?
if this section bugs you so much then cut it out, its 3 whole pages. or does you wife not let you have scissors either?
but seriously, enough ball bustin. yor wives are old enough that they can just skip those pages. and your kids, well if you dont want them seeing scantly clad women you better lock them up in the basement. dont let them watch tv, get online, or even go to school. because unfourtunatly they are EVERYWHERE! I see kids wearing stuff to school now days that is way to age inapropriate, and they wonder why kids are having sex at the age of 12 now days. anyways, wont get into that rant.

To everyone who says to cut out the pages in the magazine. Grow up and get some class! This crap does not belong in the magazine!

Thank you for trying to explain your position. Two suggestions: 1)The pages could be perferated so they could be torn out without destorying the magazine or 2)packaged as to not display the after hours openly. I would appreciate an alternative. Will the girls always be in After Hours section or will spread? I look forward monthly to receiving M&F and I am saddened to hear that the format has changed some. I will give the change a chance, but the after hours section is not something I signed up for.

AZ, the After Hours section is staying, as far as I've been told. The model(s) in that section will ONLY be in that section, and not featured next or with any cars like other magazines do.
Perforating just those three pages would be next to impossible to do from a press/production standpoint, same with packaging it separately (more money to print and bind three pages with their own cover and then polybag with the issue)...
