Thanks for the support guys. Every issue of every magazine ever sold has its ups and downs. I bet if you ask your wife she can tell you the same with her Glamour or Better Housekeeping or whatever she reads. Some months have more for YOU than others, so I've always judged my subscriptions (yes, I have several of my own like RC Driver, PC World, PC Gamer, and Popular Science) as a whole. Part of it, to me anyway, is just saving money. If you but just three issues off the newsstand you've already paid for a subscription! So again, I appreciate you guys giving us a chance to grow the new title with everything Ford. We're working on a cool T-bird Turbo Coupe feature this month (for Oct issue) and you'll see more cool stuff in the future like a turbocharged Fusion, supercharged Lincoln Mk VII and more (not going to tell you everything!)...
BMF, I guess you didn't see my post above, I offered to send you July, but thanks for picking it up yourself and having a look...
August goes on sale tomorrow and I think you guys (especially the classic ones) will like it even more. Even the After Hours is better (in my opinion, with a professional model, classier look, etc.)
As always, feedback welcome... Mark

Just wished to express my feelings on your new format for Mustang and Fords. I just recieved the August issue of your Magazine. It took all of 5 minutes to go through the waste of paper and ink. I threw it in the trash where it belongs. I used to subscribe to Super Ford Magazine years ago but canceled my subscription because it was all about late model. Don't get me wrong, I realy like the late model mustangs but I'm not into them or any late model vehicles. I have had a subscription with Mustang and Fords for over 10 years, But in March of 2009 when my subscription runs out I WILL NOT BE RENEWING IT! One good thing about your change is I will no longer need to find a place to store your magazine for future reference. From here on out I will toss it in the trash untill the time my subscription runs out.In My opinion the new mag is a piece of c_ _ _! I'm very disappointed!

Well instead of just throwing our hard work in the trash maybe you could pass it along to someone who might like it? ![]()
Or if you detest it that much then why not cancel your sub and get your money back. I can't change your mind about how you feel about the magazine, but simply waiting for a magazine to come in the mail just to throw it away doesn't make any sense...
Thanks... Mark

Dear Mark, I am sorry that you are catching the flack for something that is out of your control. I am a young man in comparison to some of your readers. To make it even more amusing I have been served beer by the young lady in the Mag. I am stationed at MacDill, AFB in Tampa. I am deployed and have been for a year now. I have had a love of mustangs for who knows how long. My mother had a 64 1/2 convertible, and my dad has had a 71 Mach 1. Both cars I would love to own today. I even have a scar on my hand from a 70's Torino. In my 26 years I have owned an 83' V-6 2.9L ford Ranger, lol first truck. Then I had an 88' Turbo Coupe, I took a break from Fords for a while when I became a Honda and Acura Technician. Don't hate me I made good money, lol. However, after only a few years of driving a 91 Honda Accord with over 300,000 miles on it, I got back into the Fords. I bought a 98' Expedition, followed by my baby! A 1999 Triple black 35th Anniversary convertible Mustang, I bought this car in 04 with only 15,000 miles on it. It immediately got modified. exhaust, intake, throttle body, mass air flow upgrade, 18" Black billet wheels, a tokico 1" drop all the way around and a SCT programmer. It wasn't the fastest thing but it got the job done. I was coming home from my first deployment when I got rid of it to buy a 03' Ford Expedition. I got the truck to tow the race bike up to the track. Needless to say I hated myself for getting rid of it, but it made since at the time. I get home from Iraq in Oct. And guess what? I am going to be buying a 03, 04 either Cobra or Mach 1 because I want to build up a 4 valve as opposed to the two valve that I was building. My wife doesn't know it yet but she will, lol. Anyways moral of the story is no matter how many times you change whether in cars, life, or personality people are going to be there to say some bad things about something. It is something that all military men see with there own two eyes. So keep your head up. You could indeed get rid of some of the girl holding up parts stuff, and get the girls who really work on stuff that might work, and maybe not. Who really knows it is a test and trial thing. But even higher-ups realize they messed up and usually rethink things. I hope I see some good stuff again. I am going to send in a picture and story for your military 99-04 mustangs that you were looking for.

BMF...
The July issue had the Galpin red S197 "Boss 302" on the cover, while August, which went on sale today, had the white '67 Group II Shelby Mustang coupe on it.
Please PM me with your full name and mailing info and I'll have your sub checked out...
Scott, thanks for the post, and for your service. Terminators are some bad Mustangs. I'd love to have one. Mach 1s are nice too. Make mine Comp Orange and put a turbo on it! Hope you stick around...
Mark Thanks...

WOW, I thought my job was a hassle. I dont envy you Mark Not to sound like a broken record but I am very dissaponted with the new magazine . I think its time to start a new one . Any investors out there? My interest in Ford cars goes back to over 30 years ago when I bought my first one. Now i will no longer have that favorite magazine that I could always count on to hold my interest cover to cover . oh well .....

Mark do you know of anyone who makes a "wipple" or Centrifugal force supercharger that lets you keep the factory Air Induction on the 03,04 Mach 1. I am sure I would need to modify the hood but I wondered does someone make something like this?

I completely agree!! I am a 25 year old female who generally does not enjoy flipping through a trashy magazine. This was one of the few magazines I could read to avoid that and still enjoy Mustangs (which is the point). So I finally get my subscription renewed and receive "Modified Mustangs" in its place. I hoped it was a mistake and they sent the wrong mag, I was wrong after calling. I did the same as you, I trashed the magazine and will not subscribe to it anymore. I love mustangs and I enjoy reading about them, but not from this trash. And all they have in there is flashy newer model mustangs with 20's on it and a half naked girl next to it. Lot of effort on their part. They have lost me as a reader!!!

I have subscribed to Mustang and Fords for years. I do not like the new format. My subscription runs out in Feb. 09. I will give the new magazine a chance until then. But more than likley will not renew my subscription.

Wow,
This thread continues to grow like a tapeworm. But the longer it gets, the more we see, good, constructive comments and we really appreciate those. The name calling, cancelling subscription and negativity thing about classic content going away is getting very old - can't you guys come up with something else? Also if you want to throw your magazines in the trash instead of reading them, send them to me and I'll find a good home for them - I hate to see things go to waste like that. I know not everybody is happy with the changes, but as far as I'm concerned I'm proud to be associated with this magazine, having been involved with the Modified side of it since day one. The fact that a perfect bound, glossy, special interest Ford magazine with varied and hard hitting content exists in the marketplace today is something to be commended. We will be covering everything that is Ford and between all the staff of this publication, whether Editorial or Sales we are capable of bringing to you, the readers, some of the most unique Ford content - period. I know for a fact that Mark is one of the most diehard and knowledgeable Ford guys I've ever met. There are blue stains on his garage floor from where he has cut himself working on project vehicles, he is also extremely genuine and has the best interests of the readers, as do I.
As I've said before and I'll say it again to anybody who wants to listen, I'm excited about the potential of Modified Mustangs and Fords - where else will you be able to read about souped up Ford EXPs, mod-motored '57 T-Birds, Torino Wagons and blown Crown Victorias - in addition to cool Mustangs, now of each and every generation. Yeah, we can and we will be covering stuff like this.
Anyway thats enough for now - good night to you all and I hope to catch up with you at some of the shows and events this year and beyond. Keep it between the ditches people!

I subscribe to Mustang Monthly and enjoy it very much. I own a 69 mustang coupe and was in the store today looking at mags. I saw the June issue of 'Mustang and Fords' talking about a great 69 mod. I was literally sitting at my computer to subscribe and saw all these forum comments regarding the format change. I see a pic of the front cover of your latest issue and as a result, I will not subscribe. I agree with the disappointed folks, I want to read about cars and parts and projects, not bikinis ... Do not discount the customer. JP magazine (Jeeps and offroad) posted pics of 'Ask Bree', a scantily clad lady who supposedly answered questions. Customers complained so much that she doesn't show up any more!!

I will always be a Ford person, and at 63 years old have seen all the changes in Fords since the 50's. I have subscribed to several Ford mags and have already been through this "change for the good of everyone" before. If I remember right so has Mark Houlahan. I can see it coming now. The older Mustang and Ford Guys well start seeing less and less of want they pay for and so well the newer car guys. Over time you will lose customers or you will have to split the magazine. I see this as the only way to get your advertisers to to cover both magazines, but to me looking at this first issue it looks like 5.0 and I realize you have to have ads to stay in print. I just don't like my magazines to have more ads than content, I'll be the first to complain, I love the new Mustang but my 2000 Lighting may be my last new car and all the newer Mustangs in magazines almost always have a list of the same modes...how boring is that?
