I'm just curious as to what radio/stereo everybody is using in their 65-66 Mustangs? Did you cut the dash? Did you install in the glovebox?

Hi,
I'm getting a custom autosound radio for my 64 falcon. It should fit the factory provided space in the dash.

I have a completely customized 65 coupe, I have aftermarket seats and custom upholstery, paxton supercharger, custom wheels, etc. I saw no reason not to cut the dash. if your car is original or a mild restomod then absolutely use the custom autosound approach they work and look great. for me, I wanted the sound system to match the rest of the car, so I have a kenwood am fm cassette with hideaway faceplate in the dash, a kenwood 7 inch retractable monitor, and 10 disc dvd changer in a custom console, and a 6 disc cd changer in the trunk, 2 amplifiers and a subwoofer also in the trunk. In my opinion with as much modificatio as I have done to the rest of the car a stock looking stereo would have looked out of place. once again build it the way you like it and then you will be happy. build it to suit someone elses idea of what it should look like and its sixes if you will like it.

I cut the dash and currently have an Alpine X-001 receiver w/ Ipod controls. I wanted this one because I have a 60Gb Ipod that I take with me. I also use a Dakota Digital hidden antenna. I shaved the original.

I left the original and put an a Sony CD Player in my glove box. The car keeps its original and i have a CD Player in my glove box that no one ever sees! It's better, don't cut off the original radio, leave it. Just my 2 cents.
