ok... do they turn off when you shut the key off?????

there is a switch next to the wiper motor drive gear  that keeps the power connected until it is almost back to the folded down location ..

000000+++++++++++++++++++++000000
parked, wiping wiping wiping wiping almost down

this allows the motor to return to the parked postion when you turn off the wipers...  they continue to run until they reach the end of the wipe .. then the power is cut...

this is a separate circuit from the wiper switch...
it is usually cut when you turn off the ignition.. this allows you to leave the wipers up....

if this switch in the motor hangs up... and they have...  the wiper motor will continue to run... and run and run.. until the ignition switch is turned off...

it has been too many years since i took a ford wiper motor apart to tell you more from my memory...

wayne.

OH!!!!!!! be really careful these wiper motors have enough torque and the lever going around to remove body parts...  like fingers...
