Hello, I have a 66 mustang with a 289 with edelbrock performer manifold and headers and wonderingwhat else would be a good thing add more hp. I was thinking about a pair of AFR 165'S and maybe a cam. any ideas open to anything. the motor has 20,000 miles since rebuild and is a daily driver.

Is HP your ultimate goal, or a is your goal to wake up your driver without ruining driveability? I am in the process of finishing a 65 fastback Mustang with as serious a 289 as can be built without nos or a blower. This car will be a blast around town, but not what a would call a driver. It is more of a Saturday Night Special. It is fun to play with, but not something I would want to drive everyday. I would suggest first defining your ultimate goal. Then, have fun reaching it. After being adjusted for inflation, that is my .75 of a cent.(Instead of the former two cents)

P.S. The aluminum Trick Flow heads on this engine really woke it up.
