I recently replaced my radiator, thermostat (190) replaced my compressor, condenser expansion valve and hoses. The air is working good but the car overheated. I currently have a 5 blade fan with no clutch fan. it does have a long spacer. I am wondering if the 351c air cars came with a 6 or 7 blade fan and clutch? I am also wondering if this could possibly be the problem. The heat is also working well so I don't think that I have a circulation problem.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

My 1970 Cougar with 351 Cleveland was an AC car. I recently removed the compressor and all associated parts. It has a fan shroud and a directly coupled 5 bladed fan. It has never overheated.

Here are the questions for you:

Is the thermostat installed correctly?

Did you install a new radiator cap?

Does your car have a fan shroud?

Did you remove or reinstall your fan belts?

Is there any coolant leakage from your water pump?

What is the condition of your coolant? Green? Green and oily? Frequent release of bubbles as the engine is running as observed from the fill connection?

Was it working properly before the maintenance?

Keep us updated.

I have installed 3 thermostats and dropped the last one to a 180. I have replaced the radiator and installed a six blade fan with a clutch fan. I do have the factory fan shroud. I drove the car and it over heated before I installed the six blade fan. Now it is just showing the temp high but is not over heating and when I hit it with my I R gun I amshowing normal temp reading and it is not over heating. I think I have a gauge issue. I am going to buy an aftermarket gauge today and hok it up and see what it shows.

Thanks
