Hi, I am wondering what bug and tar remover is best for removing bug guts from my Mustang before I wax it. Being a Floridian I am especially interested in one good at removing love bugs.. they're relentless..

Any suggestions would be great!

Try WD-40.  That's what I used when we lived in Houston and went through the yearly "attack of the black bugs".  I also use it to take the burn out rubber off the back end of the cars.  

In the midwest, we use Windex quite a bit. Spray it on and let it soak for 5 minuttes, then wash as usual.  

WD40 is excellent stuff and works surprsingly well, but it can attract more dirt and will eventually turn a yellow haze. I'd try spraying some WD40 on, leave it for a few minutes, then using a clean terry cloth, carefully start wiping off the affected area. Don't try wiping too hard as you can damage the paint surface. I'd then wash the area of the car with shampoo and rinse. i also like to follow up with a quick detail spray and another clean cloth. I usually find that does the trick.

I think i found the best stuff for your problem and its called FW1.  This product is indorsed by nascar, an is safe on your clear coats.  Its a high performance cleaning wax with carnauba in it. This will remove tar, Grime, Bugs, Tree sap, Grease. I got my stuff from a sales rep outside of a 7-11 in Cali. All you have to do is spray this stuff on go over with a reg cloth, when your troubled spot is gone come back over the area with a micro fiber towel and this stuff will make you car shine.  Best stuff i've tried, once again it is called FW1 Racing formula. Thanks everyone for your responses! I did try the WD40 and it did a pretty good job. Some of what I thought were bug guts is pitting in the paint from previous bug guts that were not removed though... it is true that bug guts left on will result in paint pitting correct? I could strangle the person that had the car before me.. some folks just don't take good care of their cars... ugh..
