Looking For Dealer Information: MILES LINCOLN MERCURY In New Jersey
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MILES LINCOLN MERCURY 15E191 626 RIDGE ROAD LYNDHURST, NJ 07071
This is where my 1970 Cougar was originally sold. Just curious if anyone knows anything about this dealership. Internet searches turn up basically nothing....like it never existed.
I have all of the owner's manuals and warranty cards with the original owner's names and the name of the dealership.
Would be cool to see some pics of the dealership back in the day and learn what happened to it.
Would be even cooler to come up with a dealer plate for my car.
Thanks,
Steve

I cannot believe that I have hit such a roadblock in looking up this dealership. I know the place existed. But numerous and various online searches have turned up nothing.
Various e-mails have turned up either nothing or no replies. Guess I may have to resort to (gasp) snail mail! A hand written letter.
Does FOMOCO have a historical research service available to the public? If they do it must be well hidden.
Any ideas out there?

Hi - I am the owner of Liberty Lincoln Mercury in Clifton, NJ. We used to be located at the Lyndhurst location, which was previously Miles Lincoln Mercury. My parents bought the dealership back in 1976, we moved to Clifton in the early 80's, and I bought the business from them a few years ago. The photo you found is from my website www.libertylincolnmercury.com. I am sorry, but we do not have anything from "Miles Lincoln Mercury". You have gathered as much information as there is to find. The town of Lyndhurst probably gave you as much information as they have. After we moved, I think it became a "Quick Check" - I am not sure if it still is. Anyway, the photo you posted is the one we have hanging in our offices. There isn't much more to tell. I don't think Ford will be of any help. I would be astounded if they had any further information for you - sorry I couldn't give you more facts.
Good luck Renee Chirico www.libertylincolnmercury.com www.libertyclassiccars.com

Hi Renee,
Good to hear from you. I kind of got the idea that I had exhausted most of my options in getting answers. Actually I am kind of surprised to see you posting here, as I did send you guys an e-mail about this issue probably some time last year.
What I was hoping to find were some "Miles Lincoln Mercury" license plate frames for my Cougar. I keep looking on ebay but to no avail.
Thanks for posting.

Steve,
I remember Miles Mercury was located on Ridge Road, between Ten Eyck Ave. and Kingsland Ave, on the Southeast side of the street. From a satelite view, a large square building and parking lot appear in its place.

i have seen this post a few times..
there are a few more places to search for info and pictures...
the newspaper morgue.. where they store all the old issues of the paper.. sometimes on microfilm.. this could be at the local newspaper.. or at the local library..
the newspaper photo archive.. where the papers photographers have taken pictures for every story and the negatives are stored..
you might be better off with a CL post..
there was an article over in Hot rod or car craft about the magazines photo archives..
the magazine archive is not going to have images of your new jersey dealer..
