I recently rebuilt my 390 using a 1968 Ford truck crankshaft 2u. The block was also changed from a D4TE to a C6MEA and still have a strumming vibration as I rev the engine even in neutral or Park. The torque converter was replaced but not the flex plate. The engine with a different block and crank still has a vibration problem. I replaced the front pump bushing in the transmission and seal at the time of the swap. The torque converter was the only thing that showed excessive wear around where the bushing in the pump is. The bushing had some scoring. The front drive pulley off the original engine was used because of the belt drives. There is a noticeable difference in the 68 truck damper and the original pulley/damper however it doesn't appear that I can interchange the two without doing some involved pulley changes. Has anyone a solution or suggestion? Thanks in advance jim

You can find all the FE experts over at http://fordfe.com - might ask over there. Too many variables in the FE family.

Thanks will try there. I have already started changing the flex plate in front of the torque converter. Tried the 68 truck damper with little or no effect. something maybe out of round with this plate. Should be done next weekend. Read an article called bad vibes of Fords and it gave me some clues. Thanks all. jim
