I have a 89 F150 with a 302 in it, I have just replaced the heads and and I am in process of putting headers on it which are going to flowmasters dumped after the rear dif.,  to get to the point; I am very power hungry, what can i do next? the mechanics i have talked to have said I cant use the stuff in the magazines designed for mustangs since its a different set up in trucks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Its a 2wd automatic.

The only difference in the truck 302 is that it the short block uses cast pistons versus the mustangs forged aluminium pistons and they are slightly dished. Whether or not you have a roller cam,,,the block is machined for one. Your 302 will respond to the same things the Mustang 302 does. The only concern might be that you need to check piston to valve clearance when you use high lift cams with those pistons as they have no valve reliefs. Go ahead and get some better heads and a good roller cam, use the mustang SEFI but if you intend to flog it then you should replace the cast pistons, other shortblock parts are identical.

Get rid of the speed density gear. I have an '88 250 with a 351. I added some speed parts, nothing big, but the ECU doesn't recognize them and resets to running to stock parameters or as close as it can get. I think the ECU you want is a Mustang A9L if you are keeping the fuel injection. I'm thinking of going carb on mine, but that's a little iffy for the winters I endure.

Ford Mustang Research
Ford Mustang Explore the new Mustang and examine the various features it has to offer. The 2010 Mustang goes for a suggested retail price of $32,995.00, and comes with comparable warranty coverage to other vehicles in its class. You also might want to research the Mercury Sable and the Ford Shelby GT 500.
