nope...  it is the simular as a earlier mustang ...  coil and shock pushing down on the upper control arm...

the mustang 2 suspension has a spring that pushes down on lower control arm..

totally different...

the lower control arm is replaces as a complete unit... the upper control arm is usually inspected...    there is a custom made tool that you insert between the frame rail and the bottom of the upper control arm  to support it so you can get the spindle off...    the upper control arm bushings are steel and threaded on... the don't wear a lot if the have been greased once in a while...    AZ rents a tool to pull the spring...   not the dual tool for struts...  but one with a big flat 2 fingered fork...  a single bolt with thrust washers under the head and a pair of fingers that hook under the spring coils... it is truly important that you do not put it at the end of the bolt so there is room to release the tension on the spring after you remove the spring perch  from the upper control arm...  it is also important that you have some big screwdrivers... or prybars.. to lever it back into place..  and you really need to take the time when you compress it up into the shock tower that  it stays centered on the spring.. or it will be horrible to  do it...

new spring perches are available...     upper ball joints are easy to replace.. if you have a drill, bits.. hammer and cold chisel.. and the special tool to support the upper control arm...

strut rod bushings are also easily replaced..  be sure to measure how much stud is sticking out of the front past the nut so you can put it back close to the same place...

there are a lot of options on where to buy parts... so do check out all of them...

AFAIK, no - a 74 Mav is similar to 67-70 Mustang or Falcon.
