C6 vs C4 and 5.0 Question

I'm doing a 68 Shelby convertible tribute. I have an 86 5.0 motor (converted to carb) and had a C4 tranny  (and a nice 289 motor   ) that a friend trashed for me. I found a C6  (1990 AOD)and am fixing to attempt to bolt up (it's in route) to me). Looks like I'll need a different torque converter, some linkage and probably a bigger yoke for the drive shaft? Falcon64 helped me get it all straight for a C4 and now I'm back at the drawing board. Any suggestions/ideas greatly appreciated.

Anyone know if the 157T, 50oz flywheel I just bought for the C4 will work on the C6? I doubt it but am hoping. I also bought a C4 blockplate to accomodate the starter variance. Will this work?

Will the new C4 torque converter work? I hope so but doubt it. - Shaft size? Man, maybe one day I can actually ride in this car.

Should my wiring harness work?
Regards to you guys,
JS

The AOD requires a 164 tooth 11 7/16" bolt pattern flexplate.  So no - your new stuff is wrong for the trans.  You'll also have to use an AOD converter.  Don't know too much about AODs but you should need to fabricate or purchase a TV cable setup.  If the throttle to trans valve relation is not exactly right, you'll kill the trans very quick.  Not sure about the yoke - stick the old one in there and see, might be the same spline count.   Also, AFAIK it depends on the model how you get overdrive - might need a shifter or other items.  Do some googling and review the info here:

The C4 uses the same yoke spline count as the T5 and AOD but the aod yoke is not as deep by about an inch and half I think over the T5 yoke and a small amount over the C4 yoke which is shorter but still too long. You can probably get away with the C4 yoke by trimming to fit but you have to shorten the driveline also by about 3/4"(depending on tailshaft there are two). The AOD has integral bellhousing and must use the 164 tooth flex plate which has a different depth then the stock C4 had so you "might" have to change to a newer starter to match up but use the proper AOD blockplate and I think your ok. A good reference in simple language is at http://www.themustangshop.com/c4toaod.cfm
