I listed my new Motorcraft distributor on ebay for sale. The part number is C50F 12127 E, Date CODE 3 F 4. I assumed? it was built in 1963?. I was informed by another ebay member the following : Did I know this is 1973 ? or 1983 ? replacement distributor. 1963 distributors were all FoMoCo, not Motorcraft and are shaped completely different. They have a built in oiler that the later distributors don't have and their contours are sharper.I ended the auction early since I didn't want it to be to misrepresented. Any help ?

Yeah he is right. I think if you look at this article it will clear up your distributor issues. http://www.mustangmonthly.com/techarticles/mump_0602_vintage_mustang_distributors/index.html
If it is a service replacement it still has value as that part number just not as a concours part.

Well unfortunaly most guys that have a K code mustang are restoring them , so even if it is for a hipo mustang I think the value is limited because points are a thing of the past(unless your doing a concours resto) and the spark curve is a fairly simple matter to replicate. Most now would be using a part throttle spark (vacuum advance) also rather then full centrifugal like the hipo. So you have a resto part that isnt going to be in high demand, I really couldnt guess what you should ask for it. Maybe someone using their hipo stang wants a distributor for driving and to save the concours parts.
