The black wire from the solenoid that's for the motor on the convertable, were does it plug into. It has one male end on it. It's for a 1966 ford galaxie.

Are you talking from the starter solenoid? On the starter or from the unit on the inside of the right fender? Size engine? Heavy gauge wire or small gauge?
The answer is always in the details.

It's from the starter solenoid next to the battery on the right fender, heavy gauge and about 6 feet long and it's a 289 engine

Okay. I think that one goes to the starter.
If you were looking at the starter relay (solenoid) from the driver's side fender, it should have 2 heavy terminals: one facing forward and one facing aft (relatively speaking) and then 2 smaller terminals lower down and facing inboard. Assuming that yours is right side up, I want to number (the 4 terminals on the starter relay solenoid) them 1, 2, 3, 4 from forward to aft. This is what should hook up to each terminal:
1: Heavy cable (typically red, but could be black depending on how many times it has been replaced). This hooks up to the positive terminal of your battery. BLACK / YELLOW striped wire (ultimately ends up at ignition switch). Black wire goes to the alternator "B" terminal.
2: Smaller terminal: RED / BLUE striped wire (ignition switch?)
3: Smaller terminal: BROWN wire to Ignition Coil.
4: Heavy cable, generally black. This goes to the starter (starting motor relay).
Hopefully that helps.

the wire for the convertable top power usually plugs or connects to a circuit breaker usually under the hood somewhere.. then off to the top switch or off to the solenoids to control the top motor.. i usually have that info ... but it is available with luck on a google search.. as the convertable top has a separate wiring diagram..
i will continue looking...
find the top switch.. see where the wires coming out of it go... one to ground.. at some point.. another to the circuit breaker ... 2 going to the pump...
at least it is simple on a stang... you should see what it takes to make a tbird retractable unlatch, lift, fold the the front in, unscrew the deck, fold the top below the rear deck, close and latch the rear deck then drop the center deck and latch that.. one pump, several hydraulic soldnoids, a rack of relays, at least 4 motors that screw the decks down.. 2 motors that fold a flap. and tons of switches... any of which break... the whole mess stops mid cycle..

Okay. That is on a completely different track. So are we talking about powering up the convertible top, powering up the engine, the cigarette lighter or what?
As they say, the devil is in the details, which we must be lacking here in the original question.....
So, what was the original question again?

It's for the convertible top and about a 10 gauge wire with a male end. It come off the battery side of the starter relay solenoid.

there looks to also be a black and white wire that powers the six way seats..
take a look in the 1966 mitchell wiring diagrams... page 7-86
there are several pages in there that have the convertable top wiring.. but that complete harness is separate.... from the rest of the car... only the lincoln and thunderbird convert wiring diagrams are shown.. and they are complicated. not the simple up and down the galaxie has
if there are relays in that system.. and there might be.. they will be located behind the back seat.. under the rear shelf.. they are NOT HORN relays.. even though they look like them... part numbers are imprinted on them.. match them up at a tbird parts house... if you are asking where does the wire fits... plugs into.. find the other end...
its either going to power the seats or the top... start inside the car.. and work forward.. the circuit breaker might be under the carpeting or behind the kick panels on either side.. more than likely the drivers side.. but never stop searching..

I found it! It goes to a circut panel next to the wireing harness through the firewall. The wire on the inside had come off. The sircuit breaker is right on the starter relay. Thanks everyone.
