I'am new so bear with me. I have a 1936 Ford PU with a stock 1971 351C 2V engine, Holley 4v intake, 600cfm Holley carb and a Mallory dual point dist. I have a toploader 4 speed wide ratio trans and a Ford 9" rear end. It does not respond very well because I did not seek help 20 years ago. Of course there were no amazing sites like this to ask for help then. I want get some better Ariba, something in the idle/1000 to 5500 rpm. I want to polish/port the 2v heads, change the cam and pistons. Also maybe change the intake, carb and rear gears if I need to. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated from this isolated Big Bend, Texas new member.

You can review lots of info on the 351C over at 351cleveland.net

It would help if you were a bit more clear on the specific problems and what you want.  Timing can help a lot - A stock 2V is going to want 12~16 degrees initial timing with 38~40 max.  The basic recipe for a 351C-2V under 5500 RPM would be a 214/224 cam degreed during install, 600 carb with a dual plane intake, fresh stainless valves and good springs, and decking the block to set the pistons (you choice) oat zero deck.  With stock heads, you would be around 9:1 compression and should have no problem running mid-grade fuel.

I have to rev the engine kind of high, don't remember what rpm's but it seem really high to get a decent launch from a stand still. I wanted to have a good launch from a standing start, something that would burn some rubber, if you know what I mean. I have 3.25 rear gears so I don't know if this is part of my problem.
Thanks for your quick response Falcon67.

Tune the timing and add more gear would be my first thoughts.
