I know I was asked in one of my blogs for additional photos of our current project, a coupe to fastback conversion that we're doing with Drake Customs (www.drakecustoms.com) out in Arizona. I'm still out here for the remainder of the week but we bailed a little early tonight (been 14 hour days) so I had time to upload a few photos and post them here. Don't forget to read my daily blog updates on the project as well!

Fitting our doors. These are original shells with new Dynacorn skins. Our doors were in good shape, needing only a patch or skins as well, but for time sake Drake Customs had these doors ready for us and will take our doors and work them for a future build.



While all of the plug welds were completed on day 2, we had the rockers, torque boxes, and other stuctural areas fully stitch welded for strength.


We're also having them fill in many of the firewall holes we'll not be using anymore, including the mechanical throttle linkage. Our 4.6 three-valve will be drive by wire and will simply have a bracket on the firewall for the gas pedal.


While the '67-'68 only got a driver's side torque box, we're adding a passenger side as well. We added both torque boxes to my '66 Mustang during the metal work and you can feel the difference in how tight the car is and the door gaps never change/doors close perfectly, etc.


It looks like Wed will be another late night (good think I've got Knight Rider scheduled on the DVR) so I might not be able to add to this post until Thursday or Friday.

Nice work.  Now that I have a better welder, it would be nice to roll the cars around and weld up the seams.  Ah, but no time to take the cars apart LOL.  My truck is drive-by-wire.  For normal driving, it's "whatever".  However, when I have to use the F150 because I broke my race car, it's a *** to drive on the track.  You can't always get it to leave consistently.  If I was building a hot rod with a mod motor, I'd try real hard to convert it to a manual linkage.
