1.3 ohms according to the manual. Anyone know where this resistance wire is on the 84 full size?
When I move the key from start to run it dies. The starter relay is dual pole - so it also sends full 12 volt into a special little circuit to the fuel pump when the key is in start, bypassing this resistance wire.
Maybe this R-wire is toast?? When i disconnect the other little wire from the starter relay and put in 12 from the battery the car runs !!
I tested out the ignition switch and fuel pump relay and they seem to work.
Any BTDT?

I found it. It's one of the 5 wires that bolts up to the POS side of the starter relay. Actually the fuse-link burned up.
I'll have to buy a new fuse link, and figure out how to hook up both a resistance wire and regular wire to the fuse link. steve

I don't know what full size is but I'd guess that you mean LTD, or the other Big Fords. 1. Replace fuel filter. It is probably plugged up. A plugged filter will cause the pump to overheat, and burn up that wire. 2. Check to see if the ground on your battery is clean. There is a black quick disconnect ground cable that is prone to turn green, and cause grounding problems on the older Fords. Cut it out, and use one of those big yellow butt splices to repair. 3.Make SURE that you have 2 clean ground wires from block to body. 4. Make SURE that you hve 2 screws in the solenoid, and that it is clean. Ford uses the starter solenoid for a ground. Hope that helps.
