I'm doing a transition from a 67 steering column to a colapsible 68 column; anyone knows how many snap rings there are on the steering shaft, inside the column to prevent it to move upward or downward and how many inches of play should I have left to install the steering wheel?

Jim Smart did the exact swap years ago in Mustang & Fords. I even think the story is on our site here somewhere. Have you tried searching for it?

Here it is:

Yes I did and found it, but after watching very carefully all the pictures I still don't konow if there are two or just one snap ring. On mine if I put it past the bearing going up toward the steering whell, the shaft (if not attached to the gear box)comes out and pull the cancelling cam of the signal light switch off. I wish I could ask Jim to get this answer.
Tks

Mine is a non-tilt and judging by this diagram there are 2 snap rings.

Tks.  Very much appreciated
