I have a 64 falcon with a 304,astro geared 5 speed 2.95 first 9" 3:70s moser axles,8"rims with 235/15s.B.F. Goodrich Drag Radials.I have about 1500 miles on it and the tires are almost bald, they spin all the way into 3rd gear. Is there a tire that gets better traction than mine and still drive on the streets? 235s are as big as I can go in a stock Falcon.

Sounds like you got good mileage out of the BFGs. You could also look at the M/T Street Radial tire.  I have personally run the BFGs and do not know anyone that uses the M/T tires on the street - all strip cars here that use M/T Drag cars.  M/T makes good tires, so I'd be inclined to try them.  If you are snipping about the mileage, note that most all of the street/drag radial tires carry a ZERO tread rating - meaning the mfg rates it for going nowhere and if you get one mile, you done good.  1500 is good for a drag radial.  200~250 passes on the drag strip maybe before you see the cords, depending on your burnout procedure.

PS - there's more to traction than tires, it also depends on how the suspension reacts.

Very true...

Is it still leaf spring out back? Are they tired/weak/sagging? What shocks? Any traction bars or other type devices? Drag radials are a nice compromise for the street, but they are essentially treaded slicks that just squeak by the DOT rating. Don't expect 30K miles out of them like your wife's car. LOL!

HTH...

Thanks guys,I am not concerned about the wear, but about grip. I have new 5 leaf springs, and cal trac bars, all that works good.
