Hi I am planning to swap my 1971 Mustang 351 engine and automatic transmission to a 1971 360 Ford engine with 4x4 transmission. If any one can help me or tell me any thing about swapping if i need the new engine mount and if 4x4 will not work, what transmisson should I buy? Any technical help thanks Alvi

just curious... do you have a 351W motor or a 351C....
Select the engine of your 1971 Ford Mustang: Available engines 6 Cylinders L 4.1L 1BL 8 Cylinders C 7.0L 4BL OHV CJ HP 8 Cylinders F 5.0L 2BL OHV 8 Cylinders H 5.8L 2BL 8 Cylinders M 5.8L 4BL 8 Cylinders R 5.8L 4BL HP
i would think that swapping in an FE motor is going to be a lot more work than finding a replacement for the 351W or C which ever one you have... don't forget ... 351W motors were made up through the mid 90's... so there are a lot of them available.. if you have a 351C... choices are fewer... as the 351C has a 302/351W bell housing bolt pattern.. the later 351/400M which look the same have a 460 bolt pattern...
that year did come with a 428FE so there is the ability to install it.. most people will tell yo not to waste your time with a 360 FE motor.. they used 360s in ford pickups until 76... so you should be able to get a C6 from an FE equipped pickup..
i don't know if there is a difference in shock towers between a small block mustang.. and an FE equipped car...
so.. which motor do you have..
here is an article with a few words of wisdom on ford engine swaps... with a nice chart of what fits what engine family...

The 360 is a 390 with a different crank so the swap is fairly easy. Still not sure why you want to do it but there is no difference in the shock towers. In earlier years the towers were reinforced for big block engines thats why you would see a band around the lower edge where it meets the frame to prevent cracking. Are you planning on retaining the 4x4 transfer case ?????
