Hi Gang
Got those original 1966 hood spring hinges on my almost completed restoration. My restorer says that those spring hinges can't be CHROMED due to the fact that it will distroy the BUSHING on the hinges
Thinking this over, there's no BRUSHINGS on my original hinges. They swing on machine press riverts I believe ( You guys tell me if that's so. )
Finally, I would love to have those big fat spring hinges CHROMED. Can that be done guys
Any suggest will be greatly appreciated.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

You can plate the springs if you like - but note that chrome plating causes hydrogen embrittlment in spring steel, which may bring on an early failure of the springs. You would pribably want to seek out a plater that deals with industrial plating or at least had experience in plating spring steel. Not just the bumper plater. IIRC, you can bake the plated items to get them back towards normal material strength but the heat involved may change the springs for the worse also.
