1966 mustang engine swap question

i have a 1966 mustang with the 200 ci straight six in it.... 3 speed manual on the floor.....i wanted to know what 289 or 302( year make of car) i can get that would almost bolt straight up to the transmission with as minimal work or modification tot he fram or body or anything else... i am a mechanic in the army but we work on diesels, but i just dont want to tear much up.. please post here or email me at bulletsfly2006@hotmail.com my name is mike

AFAIK, no V8 will bolt to a 200 trans. You would need an engine and mating trans, plus the proper frame mounts. No mods to the frame or body necessary. I would suggest the addition of sub frame connectors - the Mustangs as a whole are rather flimsy, 6 cylinder models especially.

the real issue as I am sure I will not be the only one to point out is that even if you could get a v-8 to bolt right up to the transmission the rest of the drivetrain and suspension are not setup for a v-8. swapping in a v-8 properly you will not need to modify the unibody but you should consider a 4 or 5 speed transmission set up for a v-8 and an 8 or 9 inch rearend setup for a v-8 with v-8 springs and improved brakes.
