I have a 66 coupe that we have restored 100%. disc power brakes, A/C,6cyl to 302,the only thing left is getting this gauge cluster to work.

Any suggestions?? voltage in is 12v,voltage out is 12v for a short time than the meter starts flashing "no voltage" than a few seconds later the voltage will show again for a short time.I'm really not sure how this regulator works  all the gauges, Oil pressure, Water, and fuel gauge.these are the only gauges hooked up to it.I thought the voltage out was supposed to be approx 5v? Maybe the reg. is bad? Can i by pass this regulator and make the gauges work? Thank you ahead of time.   chuck

Sounds like the regulator needs to be replaced.  You cannot bypass it - the gages will not work properly without it.  If the local parts store doesn't stock it, any of the Mustang vendors should have it.

Have you gotten anymore information on this?  I am having the same problem with my 67 Mustang.  I replaced the regulator with a new one.  TWICE!  And they are not cheap.  I'll be checking back to see if somebody will help us.  Good luck.

OK
I just went thru this very same thing with my 65 and after a lot of research i found this site to be very helpful.  I ended up grounding the cvr to the chassis with a ground wire and now my gage reads at least 3/4.  Need to fill her up and see if she will read full.  Here is the link below

I am having the same problem. My old CVR was showing 12.7v in and 12.3v out,  and guages were not working properly. I replaced it with a new one and it jumps from no voltage to 1 volt. When I turn the key on the oil pressure guage bounces as the volts bounce, and the temp does not move. When I start it the oil goes down to 0 pressure. I thought I bought a bad CVR,(which they will not warranty) so I bought another one. I is doing exactly the same, bouncing from no voltage to 1 volt. I disconnected the control side wire of the CVR and the voltage still done the same. Any suggestions
