Does anyone know what modifications need to be made to a '67 Galaxie 500 in order to install either a 4.6 or 5.4 liter engine?

Welcome to the forum!
I have not seen a full size with a mod motor in it in a while, but I have seen it done. Most likley it is not going to be a "room" issue but one of "fitment", meaning, you have the room, but how do you fit the darn thing! LOL
I would start by stripping the engine compartment bare and taking measurements to see if the mod motor will work with the stock engine crossmember and just fabricated mounts. If it is too tall or won't work otherwise then you'll have to swap to a custom front sub-frame, either a DIY or a kit such as a Mustang II from one of the big suspension vendors (Rod & Custom, Heidts, etc.)...
Time to do a little Googling me things too!
Good luck with it and post up some pics if you do it...

Answer: A bunch. Ask over at fordfe.com (well, at your peril) Somebody there may own up to having done it or been involved with such a swap.

Should not be a problem. I have a 64 Galaxie 500 with a 4.6 and five speed transmission installed from a 98 mustang. The engine fits with no problem other than changing the oil pan to a front sump. Once I figured out the motor mounts the engine goes in with no problems, but you will have to remove or bypass the resistors wires so that the ignition and starting system would function properly. I converted the engine to carbureted using an Edelbrock intake and MSD 6A MOD Motor ignition modular. I also had to extend the transmission mount to accept the five speed transmission and the same is required for and AOD. I have used both the early 4.6 that accepts the AOD (same bell housing as 302 or 351) and the later version that uses the current bolt pattern (AODE). I chose the 5 speed on the later engine requiring no electronic for the transmission.
Get back to me and I’ll send pictures.
