2005 shaker 500 cd player

how can I remove the cd from my radio when it doesn't even recognize the cd in there?  

Ford is notorious for having issues with their six disc "CD6" systems. While a lot of it comes from burned CD-Rs and discs with adhesive backed paper labels, even store purchased commercial music CDs seem to get stuck too.

You can try a few things. For one, press "CD" and "EJECT" and the same time, this usually resets the CD player (at least on the older Ford units) and should get the disc recognized to eject it.

Another option is to look in your owner's manual and pull all fuses related to the radio and then reinstall them, essentially power cycling the unit (kind of like pulling the plug to reset your cable box).

If all else fails you can remove the unit and carefully dissasemble it to access the stuck disc. Take LOTS of digital pictures as you do so you can figure out how it goes back together...

I had this problem twice....the first time it got stuck I got a butter knife and stuck it in there. I pushed the eject button and at the same time took the knife and tried to pull the CD with it....after a couple of tries it actually worked. (I wasn't too fond of that particular mustang as I was ready to trade it in for another)

The second time this happened I kept pushing the "Switch CD" button in order for the player to "try" and switch CD's. Once again after a couple of times it finally worked. You can also try "Loading" a CD in there and see if that works.
