Can anyone help me out?  I’m restoring a 68 fastback.  At the moment I have the oem suspension and I am thinking of upgrading.  Can anyone tell me if they are having issues with globel west suspension, total control products or heidts mustang 2 suspension.  What suspension do you recommend to use?  Or is it really necessary to upgrade?

I am going thru some issues with a set of springs on a 1985 mustang and the k-member is new and tube with tube lower control arms , the issues im having is the springs dont want to compress enough to get into perchs ,this is very hard on my spring compressors (diffrent styles used) and if avalible to you I recomend coil over if in your budget and yes it does bring the car into a better ride and firms up for a safety point but the suspension is very important for update,my issue is the space.

What do you want the car to do?  Lots of really fast, hard cornering Mustangs built and raced way before there was ever a Mustang II.  You can make a nice driver with a decent set of sway bars, some tuned shocks and a proper set of springs.  By a copy of the Boss 302 suspension book and take a look at the different build stages.

FWIW I'm gonna go with Falcon67's advice... wider, nice stock Ford Rims [if that is where your budget is] will fit the bolt pattern like from an explorer, if you like them, and tires will make a huge difference in the ride and handling with the afore mentioned upgrades. If you are going to use it as a daily or ocassional driver, I'd stick with the upgrades Falcon 67 suggested.

If your interested in upgrading the steering I will sing the praises of the total control power rack and pinion all day long.  for my money a nice stock style suspension with good shocks and larger sway bars front and rear with the total control power rack and pinion gives a great setup.  excellent road manners I can drive down the interstate with one finger on the steering wheel just  like in one of my new cars.  it handles great.  no it is not a rally car but for driving it is great.
