I just picked up the Jan 12 issue on the news stand. Liked it so much I came to the web site, subscribed for 2 yrs home delivery.

I have a 64 Fairlane 62A body. it is completely torn down getting much needed metal work. I have big plans for my car. engine: 302 with 351 heads, c-4, mini tub, narrowed 9" rear with four link, Fatman Fabrications IFS, roll bar etc.

There is a tech question in the jan 12 issue on bump steer and power rack pressure problems. I'd like to know if the IFS the reader used is the Fatman kit as I'm planning on using it and would like to avoid headaches.

Any other tips or thoughts would be welcome.

Welcome to the forum Smitty! Wow, a '64 Fairlane, nice ride. I just saw one done up nicely this weekend while at the big Silver Springs Mustang & Ford Roundup. Always liked 'em...

Sounds like you have a nice plan of attack figured out. I don't know if the reader ever mentioned the product brand in his letter or not, but the Fatman kit is the only one I know of that uses an Escort rack (as mentioned). I know Fatman has sold many of these over the years and I've personally driven his '68 Mustang convertible with that kit on it and it handled extremely well.

Their new PSM kit is more work and more money, but I think has better features/options to it. Just a thought. I forwarded your email address to Dave Stribling so that he might be able to forward some advice and what to look for in suspension kits. SO be on the lookout for his email.

Once again, welcome to the forums!

Mark,
The escort rack being mentioned in the article is what caused me some concern. I am planing on using the fatmans kit on my car.
I do not like the idea of the traditional Mustang II  conversion and have started saving my pennies and dimes as the beach boys sang, to buy it.

While that may take a while I have plenty of metal work to keep me busy.

I did get an email from dave.  He stated that he believed the Fatmans system should be trouble free if the pump and the rack were properly matched.

The answer to the tech question also mentioned a pressure reducing valve to keep from blowing out the rack. I can imagine that ford never envisioned 400 hp driving the pump to feed the escort rack. So all in all my first issue of MMF has helped avoid unforeseen issues for my car. Looks like I'm ahead of the game thanks to MMF.

I have plenty of photos of me working on my car. Maybe the mag will run a "What R U working on" section for unfinished projects.

thanks again
Smitty
