I have a withan aod and 350 9in rear end and disc brakes.Any suggestions on what kind of a column I can find and install it with column shift? 1956 ford convertable and would like to change the steering colum to tilt.So far I have put a 302
I think this might look a little better. What I was trying to state was I have this 1956 ford conv. with a 302 ,9in rear end and an AOD trans and new disc brakes. What I would like to do is find a replacement for the steering column but one with the shifter on the colunm. That way I can keep the beanch seat. If that is not a choice I do have some 1967-69 t-bird buckets for a flood shift. Is their anyone who has done this ? JMc
there are about 6 or 7 magazines on this site that might have an article on something similar..most are going to be new columns.. and some have column shift options..but are you looking for a key on the column also.. or no key on the column..you might be stuck with 72 and earlier chevy truck.. and 75 and earlier chevy van.. and 82 and early chevy/gmc step vans. with the key on the dashboard..there are so many steering columns in the aftermarket to choose from also..visit some of the vendor sites. summitracing.. jegs... speedwaymotors.. flamingriver, there are several more... you can select thru various options to perhaps find something that will work...
