I have had my '83 GLX convertible for about 6 months now and I'm really lovin' it.  From all I've been able to research you are right in the fact that the 4spd (which mine is) is rare.  If this was a Ford "flub" then I'm really glad they made it because she really kicks ass.  Did I mention that it's a 5.0 4v H.O.?  You didn't mention which power plant yours has.  Any way look forward to more talk on our rare little cars. I have an 1983 GLX 5.0 convertible.  Pretty much loaded 65K miles.  I have the original owner title.  It was baby blue with a blue top.  Now it is electric blue and getting ready to put a white top on it.  I changed the color before I new what I had, although it looks really nice now.  It is a 4spd. pw,pl,powertop,pb, cassette player with amplifier.

Thanks for all the info, I have a 83 GLX Convertible 5.0 4 spd manual with a 4 barrel. The owner's manual is dated November 1982.
It is a Canadian Car with 102,000 original kilometers on the metric odometer (aprox. 64,00 miles). It was stored over 10 years and never winter driven.
I'll post a picture if I can figure out how.
I am interested because I believe there were only about 500 convertibles made with 4 speed manual transmissions if any one has the source of this information. Also wondering if there were any Convertible GLX 5.0 4speeds with 2 barrels and if there was a different engine code in the VIN for 157HP 2bbl and 175HP 4bbl versions. If there were less than 500 1983 GLX 5.0 Convertibles with 4 speed manual transmissions it would be very cool to break down 157 HP vs. 175 HP if both engines were available?

Marti auto works has all the information everyone is seeking. They are the ones who supply all the information on the classic mustangs and now offer the same for the fox bodies check them out at www.martiauto com you mave to google it due to not being able to post web sites here. or just cut and past and add the . but they are the best for sourcing information on any ford. hope this helps.

I'd like to swap out the metric wheels on our '83 Mustang GLX V-8 4spd.  We tried  a set of 15x7 ARH Ansen Sprint wheels from Tire Rack but the front hub caps wouldn't fit over the wheel bearing housing.  Not the look we want.  Has anyone found a source for alloy wheels that fit and use tire sizes that are readily available? Tire Rack has no other options and local service centers are no help either.

I don't know how rare is rare, a friend of mine has a collection and has 3 in it.I know one is and automatic, I asked him and he said it depends on other options and he didn't seem to jump up/down when I asked him. So I wouldn't think they are that rare.He didn't have any numbers so I can't help you either. I you go to the Ford archives look through the Ford Galaxie site there maybe info. there?

Now the 1964.5 K-Code Mustang manual top convertible with the 2X4's he has in his collection is rare. It's mine, and even he can't buy it from me. I get a call or text or Email atleast once a month, asking to purchse it....It goes in the hole with me as when I go...LOL...that was my first real Muscle car. I am the second owner. I purchased it in 1965 right after VietNam...I've had it since....The guy I purchased it from would purchase muscle cars back then as to what was the fastest production car that year. My Mustang was origanally set-up by Tasca Ford in Rhode Island.I have all the paperwork. back in the day when production cars were fast out of th factory.

Just a little story thats all.
