Sheared Antenna

Hello All!

Time to let me show my lack of knowledge here...  The radio antenna for my '65 F250 has sheared off about an inch above the mounting plate.  I do not see any clear means of removing the antenna, and the parts exposed above the fender seem corroded together.  Will I have to remove the fender on the truck to change the antenna?

Thanks in advance.

antennas can have several mountings..

a stainless steel trim cap comes off the top , screws under it.

nut from below.

screw down the middle of the top....

check with your local napa store...    they might still have the repair antennas that drop on over the broken stub...

i actually had a new one of them and installed it on a friends car...    some crack monster snapped it off within an hour.. made it into a pipe..    i had had it for 20 years still in the package.

i will have more info  tomorrow night for you....

because you will run into nothing but  the question WHAT.. when you visit a few stores..

i visited the napa site... found 3 that you might want to look at...  there was NOT enough data on the web site to see what they mounted to ????

I found the same problem with "What?" at the local Napa parts store.  The two antennas they had there had some sort of threaded base adapter.  The top of the nub on my antenna perch is a 3/8 inch cylinder with vertical ribbing to it.  It looks as though this was to be removable, but the nuts and threads under it are rusted up, nothing budges.  I'll keep an eye out and try also some rust buster on the threads once the rain stops.
