which of the optional motors do you have..?

1965 Ford Mustang

In 1965 the Ford Mustang debuted as a simple sports car powered by a 170 cid six cylinder with a pair of V8's as options. Originally named for the fighter plane, the P-51 Mustang and later the horse Mustang became the emblem. Buyers loved its low price, long hood, short trunk styling, and its many options and Ford loved its high volume sales. In mid 1964, Ford introduced the sporty 2+2 fastback body style to go along with the hardtop coupe and convertible. Enthusiasts also cheered the new "K-code" 271bhp 289 cid V8 that finally put some performance to match the Mustang's good looks. For those that wanted more, the legendary Carroll Shelby and Ford collaborated to produce the Shelby GT-350. This was a fastback specially tuned by Shelby. The 289 V8 produced 306bhp in street tune and around 360bhp in special GT-350R race tune. These Shelby's had no back seat, were only available in white and were fully race ready.

Location Of Engine Code: Last letter in the serial number. Look toward the back of the engine block on the right hand side, above the starter. You will find the casting number at this location.

Letter     Horsepower/Torque Transmission Carburetor
T 6-200 120/190 Cruise-O-Matic 1 BC
C 8-289 200/282 Cruise-O-Matic 2 BC
A 8-289 225/305 Cruise-O-Matic 4 BC
K 8-289 271/312 4-Speed Manual 4 BC

serial numbers are NOT on the intake manifold..

on the intake manifold.  there are Casting numbers to identify the intake  and Julian dates to show the date they were cast...

there may be a partial Vin number stamped into the block.. into the transmission..

on the body.. there is a vin number on the windshield opening or dash board..

also on the top of the inner fenders that is sometimes hidden.. also in several other places around the body..

note down all the other Julian dates from your engine parts..

find the build date on the car...

make sure that the replacement part does not have a julian date newer than the build date of the car ..

you did not answer which one of the possible motors the car has to allow one of the forum members to perhaps supply you a proper casting number....
