I am confused as to what exactly a stall converter does. I'm not totally ignorant when it comes to vehicles; I have had two years of automotive votech classes so I do know a little bit. Now, I don't want someone that thinks they know what they're talking about, I want someone that can explain exactly what happens and how it happens. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

there are around 40 car and truck magazines on this site....

torque converter internals are covered in a few of them...

there is a LOT of secrets about what goes on inside...

after you have digested a few dozen articles....

feel free to ask any more questions either about torque converters or any other automotive subject..

continue torque converter questions here..

its a HUGE subject..  and its hard to cover the width of it in just a few minutes..

it could take days of typing.. to get one opinion..

careful selection with final use and cam selection is required..    too low a stall with too much cam will give you issues...    too high a stall will ruin your fuel economy..

if you are still in school... study up on the IDLE TRANSITION circuit at extended low RPM cruise..

thats where the MPG is made..   its a whole new ball park getting the idle transition air fuel mixture correct..

Hahaha, I don't know if what women want is an easier question than that. Thanks, those articles were pretty informative.
