I have a 90 coupe with a tubuler Kmember-347w/AFR heads-TH350 trany.
What company makes long tube headers that will give me collector clearance around
the trany and crossmember.I want to run 18" long collectors to start with.
What do do racers use, who run power glides? Confused

hmm...  thats an interesting question..  as i am taking you might be running an adaptor plate to mate with the back of the ford block.. so you are having header issues..

there are double hump crossmembers available to clear most exhaust systems..

this is from ford racing     Ford Racing M-5059-A Double Hump Adjustable Transmission Crossmember

41389218 640

there are also tubular versions with bigger humps for more exhaust clearance...

Yes I'm using an adapter plate. But the problem is the clearence between the collector and the trany pan on the right side. The crossmember part was solved
by making a new one. The collector on the left side was rubbing against the cross
member bracket, fixed that by massaging it with a BFH. Have everything together,
so I'll live with it for now till I can get the correct fix.But still wondering
how much heat will transfer over from the collector to the trany.
PS: I'm new to all this internet mumbo jumbo. How do I get a jpeg photo from my file
into my thread like the above picture.

as for gaining clearance.. around the transmission...

there is nothing stopping you from tweaking the headers slightly...

unless they are coated..

they are just steel tube..  a slight twist by inserting something into the collector opening..  might give you a fraction more room..

just a thought... cannot wait to see your images...

I'll stay with it for now until I can get the appropriate fix.But still wondering
how much warm will exchange over from the enthusiast to the trany
